Today I kept thinking about the moment after a child gets something wrong. Not the mistake itself. The moment after.
The small turn of the head. The eyes lifting from the broken tower, the misshapen letter, the spilled bowl, the puzzle piece that would not fit. Before language arrives, there is already a question in the room.
